Introduction of Double Yellow Lines Opposite Apuldram House, Dell Quay Road

Apuldram Parish Meeting are working towards submitting a Community  Traffic Regulation Order to introduce a short stretch of double yellow lines opposite Apuldram House on Dell Quay Road to improve safety, access, and the overall functioning of this narrow rural lane.

Persistent parking at this pinch‑point repeatedly obstructs two‑way traffic, restricts visibility, and prevents emergency, service, and boat delivery vehicles from passing safely. Introducing limited double yellow lines at this location will protect pedestrians and cyclists on a road with no pavements, reduce verge damage, and ensure that Dell Quay Road remains safe and accessible for residents, visitors, and essential services alike.

Key Reasons for Support

  • To maintain safe two‑way traffic flow by preventing parked vehicles from obstructing an already narrow section of the road.
  • To protect emergency, service, and agricultural vehicle access, ensuring that essential services are not delayed by blocked routes.
  • To improve pedestrian and cyclist safety, particularly important on a road with no pavements and limited visibility.
  • To reduce verge damage, preventing further erosion and protecting the local rural and conservation landscape.
  • To discourage unsafe parking by visitors
  • To support the safe and inclusive use of Dell Quay Road for residents, visitors, vulnerable road users, and the wider community.
